Congressional Budget Office
CBO Mission
The Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) mission is to provide Congress with objective, nonpartisan information to help them make effective budget and economic policy. The CBO was established in 1974 by the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act to give Congress a stronger role in budget matters.
The CBO’s responsibilities include:
- Producing the annual Budget and Economic Outlook
- Creating cost estimates for nearly every bill approved by a House or Senate committee
- Supporting other Congressional committees, particularly Appropriations, Finance, and Ways and Means
- Supporting Congressional leadership
The CBO’s work is available to the public and Congress on its website. The CBO’s website includes resources such as: Budget and economic data, Baseline projections for selected programs, Estimates of the President’s budget proposals, and Publications with data files.
Information Resources Management and Technical Services
- MAJUS provides comprehensive IT Systems Engineer support to the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) Information Resources Management and Technical Services Unit (IRM&TS), focusing on optimizing and maintaining key system operations. The team assists with the setup and configuration of Hyper-V to replace VMware, manages the transfer of virtual machines, and supports both Windows and Linux servers in Hyper-V and AWS environments. They also perform critical tasks such as server and workstation patching using Ivanti Security Controls, troubleshooting R, VSCode, and Python installations, and performing cleanup in Active Directory and AWS.
